A popular entry point for burglars is through the garage door. If your garage door and opener are not adjusted properly, a burglar can push in on the top section of your garage door and pull the emergency release, thereby enabling them to manually open the garage door.
For every service call we make, we verify that your door and opener are adjusted properly so that your door functions as it is intended, thereby making your garage more safe and secure.
Before the 1990s, most garage door manufacturers used single code technology for garage door openers. This meant that your unit operated on a single code so when you pressed your remote, it would use that same code to open and close your door every time.
Current garage door openers use what is called rolling code technology — the opener’s code “rolls” or changes every time you press your remote. This technology makes it impossible for someone to know the code your opener is using.
If your equipment is out of date, Garage Door Guy carries a full line of Liftmaster, Genie, and Sommer products on our vehicles so that we can update any outdated equipment while on your premises.
In 1993, UL-325 became an enforced code on all housing. This meant that all openers manufactured after 1993 not only have to have the safety reverse sensors, but they must be mounted within 3-6 inches of the floor. This protects people, animals and objects from being crushed by the door as it is closes.
When servicing an opener we note and speak to the owner regarding any components that are not up to code, and are trained and certified to repair or replace any such out of date components.
Some doors that we see while on servicea calls are simply unfit for operation. This could be because the door is in danger of falling off of the tracks due to a high amount of damage to the door, or it could be due to a malfunctioning opener system.
Whether your garage door system is in need of repair or partial/complete replacement, we have the parts and supplies to get you back “on track” in no time.
